Welcome to MY siteWeaselware Pottery & Glass came about in a very unusual way. I have never been "artsy" in fact just the opposite, but one year when my daughter came home from University to work for the summer, she mentioned to me that at our local Art Centre they had pottery. She thought that I should try it and that I would like it. I have no idea why she thought this, as I said, art or being creative was never my thing. One cold night in October, bored out of my mind, I decided to go down to the Art Centre and check out this pottery thing. My girlfriend was just pulling into my driveway as I was leaving, She wanted to know where I was going, so I told her "Apparently we have pottery in town". She was like "What?" I said " I'm going to check it out, do you want to come?". She was like "Sure". So away we went...got there....some very nice people put us on a wheel with a hunk of clay and showed us the basics of what to do. I was very proud of that first hockey puck ashtray I made! The rest is history....we continued to get better and both fell in love with our "Creative sides"! Please enjoy looking through my site. My pottery is a reflection of myself and how I feel at the time when making a piece. I want people to use my pottery....I make very few decorative pieces. It's meant to be used in your everyday lives, to serve in, to bake in, to mix in and to eat in! Glass slumping came later after I got semi-good at pottery. Again a nice lady showed me at the Potter's Guild how to slump pieces of glass to make candle holders, serving dishes and bowls. This is something that requires alot of attention when firing. You must be present to view the pieces as they slump in the kiln and be ready to turn the kiln off when you like what you see. I've been told that the candle holders are beautiful lit around the tub when you need a realxing soak!
